Pub of the Week: The Beau Nash, Tunbridge Wells

Posted: 6th January 2017

The Beau Nash Tavern is a traditional pub at the top of Mount Ephraim, just a five-minute walk from Tunbridge Wells town centre and less than half a mile from the town’s train station.

Inside, there’s an attractive bar, with wooden floors, beams and furnishings. In winter, a real fire warms customers as they enjoy a quiet drink in leather armchairs.

Outside, there’s a large secluded garden with plenty of seating for customers to take advantage of warmer weather in a quiet, relaxing space.

The Beau Nash serves lunch and dinner on weekdays, and lunch at weekends. The menu is full of traditional pub food favourites, including cod & chips and steak & spitfire ale pie, and there’s always a good selection of roasts available every Sunday. Customers can also savour food with an Asian flavour, like the paneer gobi curry.

The pub has a reputation for providing great entertainment. Music lovers enjoy live performances every Saturday night and regular open mic nights showcase amazing new talent. There are also regular Soul nights.

Among other entertainment, there’s a pub quiz at the Beau Nash every Tuesday at 8:30pm, and top sporting events are shown on large screen televisions.

The pub’s name has a fancy history. In 1735, Richard 'Beau' Nash, a celebrated dandy and leader of fashion in eighteenth-century Britain, appointed himself Master of Ceremonies in Tunbridge Wells. Today, the dress code at The Beau Nash Tavern is a little more casual!
