Pub of the Week: The Plough & Horses, Farnborough

Posted: 15th December 2016

The Plough & Horses is a warm and friendly family pub in the village of Cove, just 4 miles from the historic town of Farnborough.

The late Victorian brick-built pub is one of the oldest in the area, handsome from the outside and cosy and welcoming inside. The bar area has a traditional feel with a modern touch – the fireplace in the bar is home to an open fire in winter and sits underneath the big screen television, which shows great sporting events all year round. There’s also free Wi-Fi available throughout the pub, making it a great place to hold business meetings.

Outside, there are seating areas at the front and the rear of the pub. In summer, customers can enjoy food and drinks served in the large, secluded and family-friendly beer garden.

The bar serves an excellent selection of ales and lagers, wines and soft drinks. There is usually a choice of three cask ales available, and the pub is Cask Marque accredited.

The Plough & Horses enjoys an excellent reputation for serving great-quality food. The varied menu, which is popular with diners of all ages, is prepared from fresh ingredients every day and is served in the restaurant, the garden or the bar area.

Every week, the pub hosts a Quiz Night and once a month, there’s an Open Mic Night. There are also regular live music performances, and the pub hosts special events including charity fund-raisers. In recognition of this work, the pub was the worthy winner of the Heart of the Community Pub of the Year at the Shepherd Neame Pub Awards 2016.
