The Shepherd Neame Visitor Centre in Faversham

A varied history

Acquired by Shepherd Neame in 1979 to serve as a hospitality suite and brewery shop, 11 Court Street has served for centuries as a home to corn merchants, mariners, maltsters, hoymen, and coopers. The building became a bank at the end of the 18th century, then a wine merchant and eventually played host to hairdressers and charity shops.

Lovingly restored

A fire in 1978 necessitated the exposure of the timber framing of the building and resulted in the loss of almost all of the internal decoration and panelling that would have been seen around the interior. Now lovingly restored, this charming 15th century building holds a bar on its ground floor as well as function rooms on the floor above.
