6 pubs for Sunday lunch

As the days get colder, it’s undoubtedly the season for a big roast dinner and a pint of Whitstable Bay ale. Here, we list the top six places we head to for a top quality traditional Sunday lunch. Enjoy!

1. The Royal, Tankerton

The ideal spot for a family meal, the Royal at the top of the Tankerton slopes offers a traditional roast with a choice of meats or delicious pistachio nut roast, with fresh veg and crispy roasties. There’s also a children’s menu, and a decadent choice of desserts - if you have room!

2. Divers Arms, Herne Bay

From 12 to 4pm on Sundays, this Herne Bay favourite offers a traditional roast with a choice of meats and all the trimmings for just £7.50, or £5.50 for children.  It’s extremely popular, so booking is recommended, along with a brisk stroll along the seafront afterwards!

3. Chestfield Barn, near Whitstable

Just a short drive from Whitstable, this stunning 14th Century restaurant offers a choice of roast meats such as topside of beef, leg of lamb or slow roast pork belly, with real gravy and all your favourite trimmings. With food served 12 – 8pm, it’s one to remember for that late, lazy Sunday lunch.

4. Hampton Inn, Herne Bay

In a stunning location with vast sea views on three sides of the pub, the Hampton is a pleasure to visit at any time of year. On Sundays there’s a traditional roast, with options such as roast pork with stuffing, crackling, fresh veg and Yorkshires, plus fresh fish dishes and veggie options.

5. White Horse, Boughton

Take a drive out to the village of Boughton, near Faversham and discover the White Horse. Best-of-British food is served here seven days a week, and on Sundays their very popular roast includes locally sourced meats such as salt marsh lamb, and slow roasted shoulder of pork from nearby Brogdale farm, plus fresh fish and veggie options.
