Independent and family owned since 1698

In the medieval market town of Faversham, our brewery has been part of everyday life for more than three centuries. We are an independent family business with the distinction of being Britain’s oldest brewer

The main brewhouse

The Shepherd Neame Brewery is located in the heart of the medieval town of Faversham close to Faversham Creek, which connects to the Swale estuary. Brewing on this site has been traced back to at least the 16th century.

The main brewhouse has a minimum batch size of 110 barrels and our annual production is around 180,000 barrels per year.
