Our people are at the heart of everything we do. We remain an independent family business with many long-serving team members, including several generations of the same family. We strive to create an inclusive culture, where everyone can be themselves, do their best work, and be part of the Shepherd Neame family.

Training and recognition

Our apprenticeship programme continues to go from strength to strength, as we work with HIT Training to offer a diverse range of courses and development opportunities throughout our business.

We hold an annual Shepherd Neame Pub Awards event to recognise exceptional standards across our estate, and recognise team members in our brewery and support office with our own 'Shepherd Neame Oscars' ceremony at the end of the year.

We also launched our Brewing A Safe Culture campaign in 2022 to promote a robust health and safety culture around the business.

Community

We actively promote our county through membership of tourism and trade organisations including Visit Kent and Produced in Kent. We support our communities through sponsorship of local events including the Faversham Hop Festival, Faversham Literary Festival, Taste of Kent Awards and Broadstairs Folk Week, and help a range of good causes through our Sheps Giving charitable arm.

Sporting partnerships

We are proud to contribute significant sums annually to local sports sponsorship, from grassroots to county level, including as a long-time sponsor of Kent Cricket, with the Club’s Canterbury headquarters, The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, named after our beer brand.

We are a principal sponsor of Maidstone United FC, and have pouring rights partnerships with Bromley FC, Gillingham FC, Leyton Orient FC, and Millwall FC.

We are the official beer supplier for The Open golf championship and have partnered with The University Boat Race in recent years.
