Pub Fun Day To Raise Money For Local Football Team
The Rose Inn in Kennington, Ashford, is holding a family fun day on Saturday, August 27, to raise funds for its local football team, Kennington FC.
The team, which has more than 100 players, regularly meets at the popular community pub, which dates back to the late 1800s.
Licensees Sara Williams and Dave Jones have been sponsoring the team since they took on the pub two years ago, and decided to offer extra support by organising the family fundraising event.
Dave said:
We are very proud to sponsor Kennington FC, which is a fantastic team that brings together all ages in the local community. We thought that this family fun day would be a great way to mark the Bank Holiday weekend and hopefully raise much-needed funds for the club.
Past and present members of Kennington FC will play a fun football match at the Alley Road pitch behind the pub at 11am, before the fundraiser starts at noon. There will be a bouncy castle for children, along with a raffle and barbecue. The majority of proceeds raised will go to Kennington FC, with a percentage going to Kennington Juniors’ PE department.
Kennington FC’s assistant manager Brad Russell said:
The Rose Inn is a fantastic community pub, always willing to help and support our team. We are delighted they are hosting this event for us, and hope lots of people come along and join in the fun.
