MARKET HOUSE MUSIC LINE-UP ANNOUNCED
A packed programme of live music has been lined up for the Market House in Maidstone, formerly Earls, following its official opening this week.
The historic pub, owned by local brewer Shepherd Neame, has been closed since January for a £900,000 transformation, including restoring its original Victorian name The Market House.
As Earls, the pub was renowned for great live music, and the Market House team is keen to preserve and build on that reputation. Free live music performances will take place from 9.30pm every Friday and Saturday, and late afternoon every other Sunday.
Deputy Manager Matt Green said:
“We are located in the heart of the County Town, and our aim is to establish the Market House as the premier venue in Kent for live pub music. We want to support local musicians, and all performers booked for the pub will be from Kent, covering an eclectic mix of genres including rock, pop and folk.”
As a result of the pub’s structural changes, customers will be able to see the music stage from any area of the ground floor, and new customised stage lighting is also being installed to enhance the experience.
In addition to an extensive internal and external redecoration, the work includes expanding the roof terrace and altering the floor layout to create more space for customers. A new kitchen is being installed in order to provide a delicious fresh food menu, using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. The drinks menu is also being expanded, serving a wide range of beers, craft spirits and cocktails alongside fresh coffee.
General manager Lou Davies said:
“We have three key ambitions for the Market House, to offer delicious, affordable food, an extensive selection of drinks, and memorable live music events. The pub looks absolutely fantastic, and we have a great team of staff in place, ready to ensure that the Market House fulfils its incredible potential.”
The Market House is officially reopening at 5pm on Friday, April 27. It will then be open from 11am, Monday to Sunday, with food served from 12 noon to 8pm every day. For more information visit the pub's website or find them on Facebook.
