Pub of the Week: The Caxton Arms, Brighton

The Caxton Arms is a traditional pub in the heart of Brighton city centre, just a short stroll from the railway station.

The pub dates from 1928, and was originally built to serve as an ale house for a nearby dairy. It is named after William Caxton, an English merchant and diplomat who is credited with introducing the printing press into England in the 15th century.

Inside, the pub combines bold, modern décor with comfortable furnishings giving the pub a welcoming and friendly feel. There are three bars over two levels, as well as a mezzanine balcony, and heated lower garden with table tennis table.

Just off the garden there is a large function room with bar, where the pub hold special events, and which is also available for private hire.

The menu focuses on offering tasty homemade food, made using fresh ingredients from local butchers, fishmongers and greengrocers. The team have worked hard to ensure there is something for everyone, including creative options for both vegetarians and vegans.

On the bar you’ll find a choice of quality cask ales, wines from around the world, plus all your favourite spirits and soft drinks.
