Pub of the Week: The Telegraph, Deal

Posted: 21st July 2015

The Telegraph is a traditional British pub in the heart of Deal that dates back over 200 years. Licensees Dawn and Tony believe that the pub should be a key part of its local community, and they have certainly achieved this here.

Situated only a few minutes’ walk from the beach, it is the perfect pub to visit after a long day on the sand. As well as the spacious, recently redecorated bar area, there is also a very pleasant paved garden with ample seating and barbecue, which is perfect to relax in and enjoy the summer sun with a pint of Spitfire.

Thursday is Steak Night, where customers can enjoy an 8oz quality sirloin steak with chips and peas for just £6.00! On the bar, there is a great selection of quality cask ales, lagers, wine and soft drinks.

The pub hosts live music every week on a Friday or Saturday evening, provides traditional pub games including darts and pool, and runs ‘Quiz and Curry’ nights every couple of months. They have also recently started to host classic game show nights, such as ‘Family Fortunes’ and ‘Deal Or No Deal’, which are proving to be very popular, and great fun for all involved.

The Telegraph recently won the Heart of the Community Pub Award at the 2015 Shepherd Neame Pub Awards in recognition of their having raised more than £20,000 for local charities since 2012, as well as their outstanding support for elderly members of the community. To celebrate, they are hosting a garden party on 25th July from 3pm – everyone is invited.

The pub is open every day, and whether you are a new visitor, or returning regular, you can always be sure of a warm welcome at this very friendly, community-spirited pub. Pop in and see for yourself!

The Telegraph is situated at the junction of Hamilton Road and Telegraph Road in Deal town centre. To find out more visit the pub’s website, or given them a call on 01304 371 746. To keep up with what’s coming up, you can also follow the pub on Facebook.
