Industry Acclaim for Shepherd Neame Brands

Posted: 12th September 2016

Shepherd Neame’s Spitfire Premium Kentish Ale has been honoured at the national Beer Marketing Awards for the second year in a row.

It won Best Use of Competitions in recognition of its Fly A Spitfire Campaign, organised to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. Spitfire was first brewed 25 years ago to honour the 50th anniversary of The Battle of Britain, and is an official licensed partner of the RAF.

The competition offered trade customers and consumers the chance to win an extremely rare ‘Battle of Britain experience’, where they would fly a Tigermoth, Harvard and ultimately the Spitfire plane itself all in the same day.

Not only did the competition mark a huge success for Spitfire, it also raised over £25,000 for the RAF Benevolent Fund, thanks to the donations of thousands of consumers.

It was the second year of the Beer Marketing Awards, which were held in London’s Brick Lane on September 8. Spitfire was also honoured at last year’s ceremony, when it won Best Broadcast Advertising Campaign in recognition of its Bottle of Britain TV adverts starring comedians Alexander Armstrong and Ben Miller.

This year, Shepherd Neame’s Master Brew was also shortlisted for Best Packaging/Design after the brand was given a fresh new look by Tunbridge Wells-based agency JDO, celebrating its heritage as The Original Kentish Ale.

Shepherd Neame’s head of brand marketing Mark Miller said:

We are very proud to have been recognised at a national level for our team’s hard work. It is great to see their efforts celebrated by the industry.
