ROYAL, TANKERTON HOSTS GREAT KENT CYCLE RIDE

Around 45 cyclists taking part in the 220 mile Goatham’s Great Kent Cycle Ride 2019 stopped off at the Royal, Tankerton last Friday for lunch, and a pint or two, courtesy of Shepherd Neame. 

The marathon ride, now an annual event, raises funds for Help for Heroes and the Kent Sports Trust, which helps people in the county access sport and recreation activities.

Awaiting the riders at the Royal was a buffet lunch, freshly prepared by kitchen staff and Shepherd Neame Food Development Manager Gareth Finney.

The three day route went from Hoo to Dover on day one via Tankerton, Dover to Tunbridge Wells on day two, before the final leg on Sunday when riders crossed the finishing line in Rochester. 

Steve Wolfe, CEO of the Kent Sport Trust and himself one of the riders, said: “The idea is to put on a ride where people can take part in a physical challenge while also taking in some of the iconic scenery in Kent and some of the fantastic pubs.

“The Kent business community has been really supportive over the past few years and people like Shepherd Neame have been incredible.”
