Pub of the Week: The Dove, Dargate

Posted: 27th November 2018

The Dove, located in the picturesque hamlet of Dargate, is both a traditional Kent inn and a contemporary gastropub with a modern menu.

The pub can trace its origins back to the early 17th century, then a very basic affair, although the current building dates from 1872. It has recently undergone a stylish and sympathetic renovation.

To reflect the use of local and seasonal produce, the acclaimed menu changes regularly.

The set lunch is priced at £23.50 for two courses and £27.50 for three. In the evening the set dinner is priced at £34.50 for two courses and £40.50 for three. There is always a vegetarian option available.

On Sunday a traditional roast takes centre stage, while there are also a small range of homemade sandwiches are available throughout the day.

At the bar the pub is serving Spitfire Lager, Whitstable Bay Blonde Lager, Bear Island East Coast Pale Ale, Bierra Moretti Italian Lager and Orchard View Cider. Featured on cask are Master Brew Kentish Ale and a changing seasonal, soon to be Christmas Ale.

The pub is ideally located for Canterbury, Faversham and Whitstable, and parking is available.
