Pub of the Week: The Royal, Tankerton

Enjoy breathtaking coastal views and fantastic hospitality at the Royal in Tankerton near Whitstable.

The contemporary pub boasts an enviable position at the top of Tankerton Slopes, overlooking the sea. 

When the sun is shining, its large garden is the perfect place for alfresco drinking and dining.

You’ll be spoilt for choice with the delicious menu offering a range of nibbles, open sandwiches, pub classics and gourmet burgers, along with daily specials.

Food is available from noon to 9.30pm Monday to Saturday and from noon to 9pm on Sunday, when booking is advised for the popular roast dinner. The family-friendly pub also offers a Young Diners’ Menu, which includes a free drink with all main meals.

Why not accompany your meal with a local Kentish beer? Master Brew Kentish Ale, Spitfire Gold, Bear Island East Coast Pale Ale, Whitstable Bay Blonde Lager and Five Grain Lager are currently being poured, along with international lagers Hurlimann and Oranjeboom, Guinness and Orchard View Apple Cider.

There is also an extensive range of bottled beers, along with a choice selection of premium wines and spirits, and speciality coffees and hot drinks. 

If you’re looking for a special evening out, head along to the Jazz Night Dinner on the last Thursday of the month, priced £23.95 for a two-course set menu and £29.95 for a three-course set menu. 

Trivia buffs can also put their skills to the test at the Royal’s monthly Monday quiz night. 

The pub has just started taking bookings for Christmas, with its three course festive menu priced £26.95 per person.
