Pub of the Week: The Monument, Canterbury

The Monument is an all-vegan pub in the heart of the historic city of Canterbury.

It has won national acclaim for its extensive menu of delicious vegan snacks and meals, using plant-based substitutes.

Customers can choose between nine different types of Burger, along with an extensive range of Hot Dogs and Paninis and other traditional pub classics such as Creamy Mushroom Pie. 

And if you have a sweet tooth, you will be spoilt for choice with the enticing collection of puddings including Triple Layer Brownie, Battered Oreos and Indulgent Ice Cream Sundae. Food is served from 12 noon to 8pm, Monday to Sunday.

The historic pub, which dates back to the 19th century, has been stylishly refurbished in recent years, while retaining its unique character. Summer is the perfect time for a visit, as it boasts one of the largest pub gardens in Canterbury. 

All the drinks at The Monument are also vegan-friendly, including the extensive range of beers available in bottle and on draught. Local Kentish brews currently being poured include Spitfire Amber Kentish Ale, Bear Island East Coast Pale Ale, Bear Island Black Lager, Whitstable Bay's Pale Ale, Red IPA and Blonde Lager, along with international lager Oranjeboom.
