Pub of the Week: Chestfield Barn, Whitstable

Enjoy fantastic food and drink in the historic setting of the Chestfield Barn near Whitstable.

The quirky Grade II Listed building dates back to the 14th century and boasts original features including a beautiful thatched roof, high oak beamed ceilings and an inglenook fireplace. 

It is perfect for a summer visit, as it has extensive patio seating and a large pond complete with koi carp. 

The Chestfield Barn is renowned for its delicious food, served from 12 noon to 9pm Monday to Saturday. Choose from a range of delicious pub classics including the popular Barn Burgers and Cider Battered Cod and Chips. 

If you’re after a lighter option, the pub also offers a great selection of sandwiches, baguettes and salads from 12 noon to 6pm. Booking is advised for the popular Barn Roast Dinner, served every Sunday from 12 noon to late and the family-friendly pub also offers a Children’s Menu including a free drink with every meal.

Along with great food, the pub prides itself on serving great drinks, including a wide selection of local ales and lagers. Kentish beers currently available on draught include Spitfire Gold, Whitstable Bay Pale Ale, Master Brew, Whitstable Bay Blonde Lager, Five Grain Lager and Spitfire Lager, along with Guinness and San Miguel. Cider drinkers can choose between Shepherd Neame’s own Orchard View or Strongbow Dark Fruit. 

And if you are looking for a unique function space, the Chestfield Barn has a private restaurant on the first floor which can seat up to 60 people.

The pub is open from 12 noon to 11pm Monday to Thursday, from 12 noon to late on Friday and Saturday, and 12 noon to 9pm on Sunday.
