Pub of the Week: The White Horse and Bower, London

Posted: 13th March 2018

A traditional London pub close to the Houses of Parliament, the White Horse & Bower is a popular retreat for the politicos and passing tourists of Westminster.

Dating back to the early 1800s, the historic pub has recently enjoyed a stylish refurbishment, while retaining its traditional look and atmosphere.

Fans of real ale can currently choose from Spitfire Kentish Ale, Spitfire Gold, Whitstable Bay Pale Ale and Bear Island East Coast Pale Ale. For lager lovers, Spitfire Lager, Cinque Five Grain, San Miguel, Birra Moretti and Amstel are on tap. Guinness and Symonds cider are also available, along with an extensive selection of wines and spirits, including an exciting collection of gins. Enjoy a drink in one of the pub’s cosy booths or even out on the pavement in true London style.

The pub is open from Monday to Saturday, with food served every day from 12 noon to 9pm.

A menu of classic main meals and tasty light bites is on offer, including a selection of fresh farmhouse sandwiches, handmade burgers, thick cut house fries, and Spitfire Ale sausages and mash. The pub’s traditional beer battered fish and chips are very popular, and customers can also choose from a selection of grazing dishes which are perfect for sharing.

The White Horse & Bower boasts a central location, just a short walk from London Victoria and Westminster train station, St James’ Park underground station, and the Tate Britain gallery. Entertainment on offer includes live BT Sports, regular karaoke nights and quiz nights, along with the traditional darts board. Group bookings are available throughout the week, and it is also a popular private hire venue when it is closed to the public on Sundays.
