Pub of the Week: Ye Olde Whyte Lyon, Orpington

Posted: 3rd November 2017

Ye Olde Whyte Lyon is a historic community pub in the centre of Locksbottom, near Orpington.

Inside, old oak beams and a real fire in winter give a warm welcome, while outside the walled garden offers a pleasant environment for relaxing with a drink on warmer days.

On the bar you’ll find a good choice of well-kept ales, plus wines from around the world, lager, cider, and all your other favourites.

On the menu you’ll find a diverse range of contemporary dishes, with something for everyone. Opt for a speciality sandwich or 100% British steak burger in a brioche bun, all served with chips, coleslaw and dill pickles.  Or if you can manage more than one course, there are tasty starters such as Tempura vegetables with sweet chilli dipping sauce, followed by a classic pub main such as Spitfire ale sausage and mash, or something a little different, like confit duck leg with smoked pancetta and kale.  Everything is freshly prepared on the premises, and cooked to order.

There’s plenty going on at the pub, too, with regular live music, a lively pub quiz and sport on TV.

If you are looking for somewhere to celebrate over the Christmas period, the pub is now taking bookings for its festive menu.
