BEST FOOD PUB AWARD FOR COMPASSES

Posted: 13th September 2017

The Compasses Inn, Crundale has been named the best food pub at the Great British Pub Awards.

The pub is run by licensees Donna and Rob Taylor, who took over the pub just five years ago and have garnered a number of accolades in that short time.

Judges said of the Compasses:

“This is a pub that clearly stood out against a very competitive field and its recognition is much deserved.”

Speaking after the ceremony Donna said:

“It’s a huge honour to be recognized among so many great pubs from all over the country. We’re extremely proud of our staff, we’re quite a small team and this is a tribute to all their hard work.”

Just a few days after the awards were announced Rob was also named Mentor of the Year by the Craft Guild of Chefs.

Earlier this year the Compasses won a place in the Top 50 Gastropubs list and Rob was named Gastropub Chef of the Year, as well as being awarded two prestigious AA Rosettes.
