Pub of the Week: The Juggs, Lewes

Posted: 12th July 2017

The Juggs is a quintessential English country pub nestled in the Sussex village of Kingston, Lewes. Here, you can expect quality food and drink, a friendly welcome and pretty, peaceful surroundings.

Inside, the pub boasts two bars, both with period features such as oak beams and open fires in winter. Outside there is a pretty country garden complete with hanging baskets and plenty of seating for dining al fresco, and a pleasant covered terrace.

Relax with a glass of your favourite wine, or enjoy a refreshing pint of cask ale, lager or cider. Or, if it’s a little early, the pub also offers morning coffee.

Close to the natural beauty of the Downs, The Juggs is a popular stop-off for walkers and cyclists exploring the area - but it’s the local pub of choice for families too, with baby changing facilities, children’s menu, and a play area nearby.

On the menu you will find classic pub meals such as cod and chips, and spitfire ale sausage and mash, as well as a choice of sumptuous chef’s specials, delicious sandwiches all served on Italian Spianata bread, and juicy burgers made from 100% British beef.

There are also a range of dishes that change throughout the year, taking advantage of the best seasonal and local produce available.

Locally, you can take advantage of the many country walks or visit the historic town of Lewes, with its 11th century castle, shops and art galleries.  There is also regular live music.

Coming up on 20th August the pub hosts a very popular annual car show, which takes place on the green behind the pub from 11am.
