Pub of the Week: The Sun Inn, Faversham

Posted: 17th November 2015

The Sun Inn is a 14th Century inn in the centre of Faversham, and undeniably one of Faversham’s most popular pubs.

Inside, it is brimming with characterful period features, including oak beams, and a cosy inglenook fireplace with a roaring open fire on colder days, and chairs nearby to relax into and enjoy a glass of wine while you warm up.

It also serves as an ideal base for a weekend or short break in Kent, with twelve stylish and comfortable bedrooms, all beautifully decorated and offering all the home comforts you would expect, at very reasonable prices.

Downstairs, there is a well-stocked bar with ample seating, and a separate restaurant area. Meals can be taken in either according to your preference, and for fair weather days there is also a large courtyard garden.

The pub is also well known as one of the best places to eat in the town. Whether you are looking for a sandwich, pub lunch, lighter meal, pub classic, or three course a la carte dining, The Sun has something for everyone.  Ingredients are seasonal and locally sourced wherever possible, to create imaginative, high quality dishes. You can work up an appetite by viewing their menus here.

On the bar, you will find a choice of quality cask ales, including a seasonal. There is an excellent choice of wines, spirits and soft drinks, plus teas and coffees.

The Sun is just a short stroll from the brewery itself, so why not combine your visit with a tour around the working brewery? See behind the scenes and learn how beer is made, find out about the history and heritage of the brewery, and then join us in the bar for a tutored beer tasting.

The pub hosts live music on Friday evenings, with a selection of high quality bands playing a variety of musical styles.

Coming up next they have the ‘Bad Pennies’ this Friday 20th, and very popular local band ‘Under The Wood’ on the 27th. Davey Ralph will be live on both Xmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, playing a selection of popular Blues/Rock classics. There are a few spaces left for New Year’s Eve dinner.
