Pub of the Week: The New Flying Horse, Wye

The New Flying Horse is situated in the centre of Wye, a charming Kentish village situated between Ashford and Canterbury.  With its beautifully decorated guest rooms, high quality food and peaceful location, it is ideal for a long lunch with friends, or weekend break in the countryside.

Inside, the pub has a spacious and attractive bar area with plenty of seating, plus a separate restaurant area. Outside, there is a large pretty garden for warmer days.

The pub has an excellent reputation for its food, and seeks to cater for all tastes and appetites, with a bar menu for lunches and lighter bites, and a full restaurant menu, all available throughout the pub wherever you choose to dine.  All food is freshly prepared using only the best, locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.  There are also daily specials, and an unforgettable Sunday Roast.

Throughout January and February, you can take advantage of a very special dining offer with their fixed price menu, from which you can enjoy two courses for just £10 or three for £15 – available 12pm and 3pm Monday - Friday.

Visit on Valentine’s weekend to enjoy some special dishes, or treat mum to a sumptuous three course meal for Mother’s Day on 6th March – their special menu offers excellent value. Menus can be viewed here. Prompt booking is advised to avoid disappointment.

On the bar you will find a range of well-kept cask ales, lagers and an excellent wine list.  The nine rooms offer some of the best guest accommodation in the area, combining traditional features with modern luxuries.

Being within a short distance of Canterbury, with its cathedral and many other attractions, and with direct rail connections to London, Wye is ideal as a well-positioned yet peaceful base for sightseeing, or for a walking weekend on Kent Downs.

The pub also runs a very popular quiz night on Sundays at 8pm - booking advised, and other occasional events.
