Pub of the Week: Bishops Finger, Canterbury

Posted: 14th June 2016

The Bishops Finger is a 16th century traditional pub in the St Dunstan’s area of Canterbury, a short walk from the historic cathedral and the city’s major attractions.

The pub is ideal for sports fans, with five large screen televisions including one outside, showing all the latest football, cricket and rugby action on Sky.

Inside the pub there is a welcoming bar area, with tables and stools at the bar. The rear of the pub can be hired for small parties or business meetings.

Outside, the garden is larger than you might expect, with a covered TV area, and patio with benches.

The pub serves classic pub fayre, with a menu of traditional favourites such as cod and chips and spitfire ale sausages and mash.

There is also a choice of sandwiches, and a popular grazing menu, where you can choose one or more snacking dishes from choices such as nachos, rarebit, chicken wings, pork crackling & whitebait. All dishes are freshly prepared on the premises, using locally-sourced, seasonal produce whenever possible.

On the bar, there is a choice of traditional cask ales, international lagers, wines from around the world and a good range of premium gins.

The Bishops Finger is convenient for all of Canterbury’s attractions, including the Marlowe Theatre, Cathedral and river trips. It is very close to Canterbury West train station.
