Pub of the Week: The Ostrich Inn, Colnbrook

Posted: 26th July 2016

The Ostrich is an historic coaching inn in the village of Colnbrook, near Heathrow.  Dating back to the 12th century, it retains many period features, such as old oak beams, fireplaces, crooked stairs, and a cobbled courtyard.

Inside, the décor and furnishings are a well-considered balance of the old and the modern, creating a comfortable, contemporary atmosphere while complementing the pub’s historic features. Outside, there is a pleasant, sunny courtyard for al fresco dining and relaxing with friends.

The Ostrich offers traditional, tasty British pub food, with a focus on seasonal dishes, all freshly cooked to order. The menu is designed to offer everything from a quick lunch with friends, to a special dinner for that important occasion.

Whether you have a hankering for a fish and chip supper, or want to linger over something more substantial, like a herb crusted rack of lamb with black olive stuffing, potato rosti and wilted spinach, the Ostrich has something to offer. There is also a dedicated children’s menu, with colouring and pens provided.

On the bar, you will find a range of cask beers, including regulars and seasonal ales, lagers and wines by the bottle or glass, plus all your usual soft drinks, teas and coffee.

If you are travelling to or from Heathrow, the pub is the perfect stop off.  Just a stone’s throw from the airport and main transport links, it offers comfortable, relaxed surroundings, in which to enjoy a hearty meal and drink before you continue on your journey.

There is also a function room available to hire, suitable for celebrations, meetings and private lunches.
