Spitfire Soars Into Action For Herne Bay Airshow

Posted: 5th August 2016

Shepherd Neame’s popular Spitfire range of beers and lagers are among the sponsors of this year’s Herne Bay Airshow on Sunday, August 14.

Spitfire Premium Kentish Ale was first brewed by the Faversham-based brewer in 1990 to honour the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

Last year, it introduced Spitfire Gold to the range, followed by Spitfire Lager last month.

The brand is sponsoring a flypast over Herne Bay seafront by the legendary Kent Spitfire, based at the historic former RAF Battle of Britain fighter station, Biggin Hill.

It will be part of a spectacular free airshow, which this year features performances by the Red Arrows Display Team, Tigers Parachute Team and Breitling Wingwalkers, along with flights by historic aircraft including the Lancaster Bomber, Hurricane and Mustang.

Visitors will also have the chance to try new Spitfire Lager at one of the two pop-up Shepherd Neame bars on Central Parade.

Spitfire brand manager Will Upfield said:

It is an exciting time for the Spitfire range, with the recent addition of Spitfire Gold and Spitfire Lager, and we are delighted to celebrate that by supporting this fantastic Kent event. Our beers were named in honour of the legendary Spitfire aeroplane, and the flypast by the Kent Spitfire should be a real show-stopper.
