Summer Storm is Cask Club Beer for August

Posted: 15th August 2019

Summer Storm is the latest beer to appear as part of Cask Club, the contemporary cask ale initiative launched earlier this year by Shepherd Neame, Britain’s oldest brewer.

Full flavoured and smooth, Summer Storm (4.5% ABV) is a modern IPA with tropical and citrus fruit notes courtesy of a combination of English Target hops and Amarillo, Centennial and Denali from the US.

Shepherd Neame Head Brewer Mike Unsworth said: “We are really pleased with Summer Storm. It’s a New World-style sessionable IPA bursting with tropical and citrus fruits combined with a mellow bitterness and slightly spicy backbone.

“The flavour and aroma hops give a slight hop haze to this light amber beer, a beer that really delivers on taste.”

The next Cask Club releases are Late Red (4.5% ABV) and Oast Dodger (4.5% ABV), which is Shepherd Neame’s green hop ale for 2019.  Both will be available in time for this year’s Faversham Hop Festival (Aug 31 & Sep 1).

Cask Club is designed to highlight Shepherd Neame’s passion for innovation and seasonality while also aiming to attract new cask ale drinkers.

As part of the initiative, drinkers will be able to pick up a Cask Club passport. Each time they try a new Cask Club ale they can pick up a sticker (two stickers per ale). Those who fill their passport will be eligible for an exclusive limited edition Cask Club T-shirt. They will also be entered into a prize draw to win a weekend getaway.
