SHEPHERD NEAME JOINS LOCAL LANDMARKS TO APPEAR ON THE FAVERSHAM MONOPOLY BOARD
Faversham’s long-held dream of seeing itself immortalised on its very own Monopoly board is set to pass go, with Britain’s oldest brewer, Shepherd Neame, joining the local landmarks taking pride of place.
The Kent town’s own board game will be licensed by makers Hasbro, and will feature local businesses and landmarks including the famously Faversham-based family brewer.
Local marketing agency, Shore Way Marketing, is the driving force behind the Faversham Monopoly project.
The medieval market town will follow in the footsteps of Kent towns including Canterbury, Margate, Tunbridge Wells, Folkestone and Maidstone to have its landmarks, streets and businesses immortalised on the popular board.
The Faversham version is also being created with involvement of the local community in deciding what’s on the board through competitions, events and the chance to nominate roads to feature.
Proceeds from every game sold will go directly to local charities and community groups.
Shepherd Neame Chief Executive, Jonathan Neame, said: “We are delighted to be among the famous Faversham landmarks and businesses to be included in the Faversham Monopoly project, which will be benefitting the local community.
“As Britain’s oldest brewer, Shepherd Neame has been on its site in Faversham for centuries, with our brewers producing award-winning beers for generations of people to enjoy. We are pleased to be teaming up with another well-known name – Monopoly – to put Faversham’s stamp on a well-loved board game. Let the games begin!”
The board design will be finalised in the next few weeks, before being sent to Hasbro for manufacture, and the game should be available to buy in the autumn.
Shore Way Marketing is an award-winning marketing agency, established in 2020 and based in Abbey Street.
