SHEPHERD NEAME ACQUIRES HISTORIC KENT PUB

Posted: 8th October 2019

Shepherd Neame has acquired The Crown in Rochester, Kent.

Dating back to the late 1700s, The Crown is a striking building situated at the top of Rochester High Street, within easy walking distance of the historic town centre. It is also just five minutes’ walk from Rochester’s new railway station.

The traditional pub has been run by father-and-son team Steve and Peter Kray for the past decade. Steve is retiring, but Peter will continue to manage the pub for Shepherd Neame.

Open every day, The Crown is a traditional, characterful pub at the heart of its local community. It serves a wide selection of cask ales and lagers, along with a carefully selected wine list and traditional spirits.

The Crown is also renowned for its delicious, affordable menu of light bites, sandwiches and pub classics. Food is served from 12 noon to 3pm and 6pm to 10pm, Monday to Friday, from 12 noon to 10pm on Saturday, and from 12 noon to 6pm on Sunday. Booking is advised for the popular traditional Sunday roast.

On the first floor is the Sports Bar, which boasts seating for 100 and large HD TV screens showing Sky Sports and BT Sports.

Director of retail and tenanted operations Nigel Bunting said:

“We are always looking for opportunities to add high quality outlets to our estate. The Crown is a great pub in a fantastic location, and we are confident that it will prove a valuable addition to our portfolio. We look forward to working with Peter and the team to ensure that The Crown’s offer continues to go from strength to strength.”

Shepherd Neame now has 323 pubs across London and the South East.
