Double Stout Beef Short Ribs

It’s the season for cosy, comforting food and we knew just the person to ask for a delicious recipe to share with you all.

Gareth Finney is Shepherd Neame’s Retail Development Manager, and he is extremely passionate about the food that we serve.

Working with the rest of the food team, he regularly creates seasonal dishes and new additions for our menu. Especially for Halloween, he has created a warming and super-tasty dish that uses our classic Double Stout in the recipe.

Gareth says: “My Double Stout Short Ribs of Beef recipe is simply mouth-watering. It’s a hearty recipe that everyone can look forward to during the autumn and winter months and, in particular, they make the perfect dish for those Halloween or firework night get-togethers!”

And, Gareth says if you’re looking for another way to serve your short ribs, you can also enjoy them like this: “I also like to shred the short rib of beef from the bone and heat the shredded meat through some of the hot and sticky gravy. Serve this in lightly toasted brioche buns with a stack of crunchy slaw and some tangy grated Cheesemakers of Canterbury Ashmore Farmhouse cheese. Sliced jalapenos are also optional here. Enjoy!”

Double Stout lends itself perfectly to this dish. This black, creamy and delicious beer delivers a velvety-smooth palate of dry, burnt flavours - and combined with the beef stock gravy, tomato puree and garlic, it creates the most decadent and rich sauce for your slow braised beef ribs - delicious!
