Double Honour for Shepherd Neame
Two Shepherd Neame pubs based in Guildford have been honoured in the town’s Best Bar None Awards, celebrating best practice among the licensed trade. The Britannia was crowned Best Pub, with the runner-up spot taken by The Star.
Supported by the Home Office, the Best Bar None scheme is run in towns across the UK, and aims to reward venues who consistently go the extra mile to promote responsible management and operation of their premises.
A total of 18 venues in Guildford signed up, and were then presented to a panel of industry representatives who elected individual category winners and an overall Guildford Best Bar None winner.
Judges unanimously chose The Britannia as the overall winner, praising its heavy emphasis on staff training and excellent engagement with local partners, coupled with outstanding customer service. Manager Lee Walker said:
It was a great honour to win both the overall Best Bar None and the Best Pub category at this year's awards. Thanks must go to my team who have worked really hard to get us where we are today.
Awards such as these are great for our local community, and go a long way to helping keep Guildford firmly on the map when it comes to a great night out.
The Guildford Best Bar None Awards were organised by Experience Guildford, Guildford Borough Council, Surrey Fire and Rescue and Surrey Police.
