Floorplan

THE MERMAID INN

The Mermaid Inn is a traditional style pub & restaurant located just five miles outside of Canterbury city in a pretty little village called Bishopsbourne, Kent.

Originally in the 1860’s the Mermaid was built as a tap house for the local estate workers but the pub was then sold and converted in to a public house in the 1920’s.

The Mermaid remains the only pub and business in this mostly rural wooded village and it attracts a wide range of customers including the community locals, walking groups and tourists to the area.

You will receive a warm welcome at the Mermaid Inn together with a great range of well kept cask ales and lagers and a wholesome home-cooked pub menu which is served seven days a week during limited hours.

Internally you will find a central feature bar servery with two trade areas. There is a more relaxed bar area with seating and a restaurant dining room for approx. 18 covers, hung with hops and boasting an open fire place. The small trade kitchen is well equipped and there is plenty of outside storage space available.

There is a small courtyard patio area to the back of the property with an enclosed grassed garden for when the sun is shining. There is street side customer car parking to the front of the property.

Moving forward, Shepherd Neame is looking for community minded and spirited tenants that have a flair for interesting food.

For more information or to arrange a formal viewing please contact the Trade Recruitment Co-ordinator on 01795 542132.

RATEABLE VALUE - £9,000

ESTIMATED RATES PAYABLE - £0

  • As at the time of publishing, the estimated rates payable, are based upon the assumption that the tenant occupies the maximum of one pub and therefore qualifies for small business rates relief
  • We have also applied the relevant multipliers and estimated transitional relief where applicable
  • Retail relief has been applied to all pubs with a rateable value of £51,000 or less. This entitles the occupier to a third reduction in rates payable after all other reliefs and will run for the 2020/21 rating years. This is an assumption that should be confirmed with the local authorityThe above calculations are estimations only and as rateable values are  subject to change, we would request that the prospective new  tenant checks the rates payable and any other relief with the local authorities prior to completing a financial plan
