Located on a peaceful country lane between Canterbury and Thanet, the Gate Inn is a traditional style village pub & restaurant in rural Chislet, Kent.
The Gate Inn truly sits at the heart of Chislet life and is the central hub for the local famers and villagers on a daily basis. It also captures custom from the other surrounding towns and villages, local campsites during busy seasons and hungry walkers or cyclists exploring the local countryside.
The Gate currently trades seven days a week and opens 12.00-15.00 & 18.00-21.00 Monday to Friday, 12.00-00.00 on Saturdays and 12.00-17.30 on Sundays. Freshly made, home cooked food is available every day during limited hours and Sunday roasts are a hit during the colder months. Every Monday is farmers night, a live acoustic music night takes place on the third Monday of the month and the locals quiz night is held every Wednesday evening at 9pm. During the warmer weather and over bank holiday weekends the garden is a real unique selling point and the outdoor live music events prove a real hit.
The pub boasts a large grassed garden full of willow trees together with a patio area, an outdoor bar servery, a babbling stream and free range ducks and chickens roaming around the open space.
Internally you will find a feature bar servery with a cellar and tap room directly behind it, two relaxed trade bar areas with an open fire place separating them and a restaurant dining room for approx. 35 covers that doubles up as private space for local parties, gatherings and events. There is a fully equipped trade kitchen on site with a recently introduced air conditioning unit, walk in fridge and freezer units just outside of the kitchen door and plenty of old barn and storage space.
The tenants private accommodation is of a good size and depending on the layout can include up to 5 double bedrooms, a kitchen, family bathroom, lounge and a private garden to the back of the building.
Shepherd Neame is now looking for new tenants to take over the running of the Gate. This site has the potential to suit a management couple or chef operator that are prepared to immerse themselves into local village life whilst further capitalising on other sales opportunities. Please contact us now for more information or to arrange a formal viewing.
