We are working closely with our licensees during these challenging times, and want to offer every support possible to help them preserve the future of their businesses. Our focus is to protect our people, our pubs and the Company for the long term.
I would also like to express my admiration for those licensees in the tenanted pub estate who have demonstrated great ingenuity and dedication to their community by diversifying their business with the launch of takeaway and delivery services, not only for meals but essential grocery items such as bread, milk and fresh vegetables.
Jonathan Neame, Chief Executive
Throughout these unsettling times, we are proud to say that our priority has been to protect and support our licensees.
We acted quickly to suspend all licensee rents from March 23 2020.
We then went on to pledge further support in light of the ongoing Covid-19 situation, by confirming that:
- All licensee rents will continue to be waived for the duration of the Government closure period.
- Shepherd Neame’s Head Office team would offer extensive support to licensees in accessing the grants and financial support available from the Government.
Jonathan Neame continues to lobby the Government on behalf of our industry and licensees and has been undertaking regular interviews to support this with a variety of national, local and broadcast media.
