RIVERSIDE PUB REOPENS AFTER £1.3 MILLION TRANSFORMATION

Posted: 31st May 2018

Riverside pub The Boathouse in Yalding has reopened following a £1.3 million transformation.

The pub boasts a unique location on the River Medway, just a few minutes from the quaint village of Yalding near Maidstone.

A new glass fronted restaurant offers stunning views of the river, and a raised exterior terrace now leads on to a large decked area for al fresco dining.

An extensive internal and external refurbishment has been carried out, with new lighting and furniture and nautically-themed décor. A new snug area has also been created, offering private dining for up to 12 people.

Fresh, hand-stretched stone-baked pizzas are a speciality at The Boathouse, available to eat-in or takeaway, along with a delicious menu of pub classics, served from 12 noon to 9pm, Monday to Sunday. And for a tasty start to the weekend, brunch is available from 10am on Saturdays and Sundays. Booking is now available online, and staff use iPads to take orders at the table.

There is an extensive range of drinks on offer, including beer and cider on draught and in bottle, a choice selection of premium wines, spirits and cocktails, and delicious coolers and smoothies. A new coffee station has been installed serving freshly ground Eros Fairtrade coffee, available to take away, along with a full hot drinks menu.

The car park has been expanded, now offering 24 spaces, and for customers arriving on the water, there are a number of boat moorings, along with a custom-built kayak store.

Formerly named The Anchor, the pub was renamed The Boathouse to reflect its riverside location.

The pub’s refurbishment has provided a jobs boost for the area, as new General Manager Kelly Britcher and Deputy Manager Hayley Willis have appointed 20 new members of full and part-time staff.

Director of retail and tenanted operations Nigel Bunting said:

“We are delighted to unveil this exciting new development. The Boathouse boasts an enviable waterfront setting, and we are confident that it will prove a popular destination in which to drink and dine.”
