Raise a Glass to the Arrival of Spring

Posted: 11th February 2016

Sweep away the winter blues with a pint of Early Bird Spring Hop Ale, one of the most popular seasonal beers from Britain’s oldest brewer.

Early Bird (4.3% ABV) takes its name from the Early Bird variety of Shepherd Neame’s signature East Kent Goldings hops, grown in hop gardens near the Faversham brewery.

First brewed in the mid 1990s, it is a refreshing deep golden beer with a citrusy aroma and fruity, zesty taste. The pale crystal and brown malt used also provide the beer with a light biscuity finish. It is a superb accompaniment for salads and fish dishes.

Early Bird will be available on cask from March to May. Look out for the green square pump clip depicting a beautiful springtime scene, including the famous Wye Crown carved into the chalk above the small Kentish village of Wye.
