Shepherd Neame is looking for a Level 2 Apprentice Chef to join our busy kitchen team at the Sun Inn in Faversham.
With our full support and training, together with our partner Umbrella Training, this post will see you learning the ropes in the kitchen with the guidance of the Head Chef, Sous Chef and team. In order to meet applicants, we will be hosting two Open Days. One at the Savoy Tap pub on the Stand in London on Wednesday 11th September 2019 and the other at Shepherd Neames Head Office & Brewery in Faversham, Kent on Monday 30th September 2019.
Role & Responsibilities
This role will see you working as part of a busy kitchen team undertaking all duties, to include food preparation, cooking, food presentation, costing’s, stock control, ordering, legal compliance, customer service, menu planning, working to dish specifications, using a range of different technologies. You will be responsible for upholding our health, safety and cleanliness standards whilst undertaking all tasks within your role. You need to have good communication skills and work effectively with others in your team and throughout the business.
You will be working 48 hours per week, 5 days out of 7, including training days. You will have a varied working week to include mornings, daytimes, evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required by the business. The job can be varied; physically demanding and can involve shift work and split shifts. There are a number of training sessions throughout the year that you will be required to attend and travel to, but valid travel expenses will be reimbursed.
You should be passionate about food and the industry, motivated and enthusiastic. You will also be able to demonstrate commitment and reliability as well as being well presented with good communication skills.
