LONDON – FAVERSHAMand FAVERSHAM – SHEERNESS-ON-SEA
Ride the “Spitfire" to the Faversham Hop Festival. Travel behind “Britannia” Class locomotive No. 70013 “Oliver Cromwell” as Britain's Oldest Brewer conjures up the atmosphere of the trains that once carried thousands of happy hop pickers from London to the Kentish countryside. Sister locomotives were once a common sight racing through Kent at the head of famous express trains such as the “Golden Arrow” and No. 70013 hauled the very last steam passenger train on British Railways in 1968. LONDON VICTORIA – FAVERSHAM Sunday 6th September Climb aboard the train of historic carriages and settle back into your reserved seat as you retrace the journey of East End hop pickers from London to the countryside of Kent for their annual working holiday.
