Tours provide an opportunity for students to go behind the scenes and see how traditional skills are combined with modern equipment and technology to produce Shepherd Neame’s renowned beers.

Educational visits are suitable for students aged over 14 and can provide valuable information for those studying biology (particularly micro-biology or fermentation), business studies, tourism, marketing, history and geography.

A major refurbishment of the Visitor Centre has recently been completed which has seen improvements to the visitors bar, brewery gift shop and tour introduction facilities to provide visitors with a fascinating insight into the history of brewing and the heritage of Shepherd Neame Britain's Oldest Brewer. A series of enhancements to the brewery tour, including additional information throughout the tour route has also been undertaken so there's never been a better time to visit Britain's oldest brewer.

Tours commence from the Visitor Centre - 10 Court Street - and are available during the day on Mondays to Friday - advance booking is essential.

It is usually possible to arrange a question and answer session following the tour to enable students to find out more about those subject areas most relevant to their course. In addition, information packs are available after the tour to teachers, summarising the main points of the visit and providing additional material for follow-up work.

Those students aged 18 and over can taste some of the ales and lagers, while soft drinks will be provided for those aged 14 - 17.

One teacher/group leader admitted free with every 10 students.

Special Visits for Foreign Language Students

Educational visits provide an opportunity for students to see the making of one of Kent's most famous products. The Visitor Centre bar has the appearance and atmosphere of a characteristic English inn allowing students to experience the customs and traditions associated with "visiting the pub". Students taking Brewery Tours must be aged over 14.
