In the 1920s and ’30s, over 100,000 Londoners poured into Kent each September for an annual working holiday.  The completion of the harvest was celebrated at large hoppers parties. The traditional carnival atmosphere lives on at the Faversham Hop Festival – now in its 17th year.

Brewery Tours & Hoppers Lunches

Take a look behind the scenes at Britain’s Oldest Brewer.  Special tours will be available during the Hop Festival.  Hoppers Lunches of locally-made Spitfire Sausages and mash followed by Kentish Apple Pie and cream will be served in the Shepherd Neame Visitor Centre.

The “Spitfire" is again set to make tracks to Faversham for this year’s Hop Festival.   The special trains will operate on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st August as Britain's Oldest Brewer conjures up the atmosphere of the trains that once carried thousands of happy hop pickers from London to the Kentish countryside.
