Visitors to the Royal can enjoy panoramic sea views while they savour their drinks or enjoy a tasty meal. Located next to the grassy Tankerton Slopes, the pub’s garden offers one of the best vantage points in the area for scenery and is a great place to idly watch ships and boats go by.

The Royal began life as a small hospital for recuperating soldiers during the First World War before becoming a hotel and then the popular pub and restaurant of today.

The pub has a good reputation for a warm welcome and friendly surroundings. Its restaurant is able to seat 60 diners.

Daily specials and a wide range of home-made dishes, with ingredients coming from local suppliers where possible, are complemented by a choice of three or more cask ales at any time and a good selection of wines.

Regular Quiz Nights are held on the last Monday of every month. There are also two pool teams that play on a Wednesday night, along with a Sunday football team and a darts team - The Royal is the centre of the community.
