The East Kent is currently closed for refurbishment.
A friendly atmosphere, interesting history, good food and entertainment and a really convenient site are advantages of the East Kent, as it is known locally.
The pub lies on Whitstable’s main shopping street with all amenities close to hand.
It is supported by many regulars who are entertained by traditional and modern activities.
The East Kent has a reputation for some cracking live music at weekends, every Friday and most Saturdays. The sounds include soft rock, blues and chart topping favourites from the 1960s onwards.
Bar billiards, Spanish table football, darts, pool, petanque, dominoes, cards and board games are all played and there are quiz nights and karaoke. There is a beautiful, relaxing beer garden and Thai food is a speciality.
The pub was built in 1802 by John Saunders, then owner of Whitstable brewery. The pub’s name was adopted from the East Kent Regiment badge.
