The second oldest pub in Hastings, the Anchor’s name is believed to originate from the fact the sea once came to the front door and boats would moor outside.
Nowadays it is a lively community pub located safely inland in the old back lanes and the hustle and bustle of George Street. Inside the bar is cosy and traditional with a small inglenook fireplace, wood burner and wooden floors.
Not always a pub, it was once used as a court house - local legend says the bar is haunted by a ghost of man who was sent to hang. A family and dog-friendly retreat.
