The Sussex Arms is situated in the historic market town of East Grinstead which boasts a wealth of architectural heritage and is surrounded by some of the finest countryside in south east England.
The Sussex Arms is reputed to be one of the oldest pubs in the town, and is a typical town centre pub, newly refurbished in a sympathetic modern style, with comfortable soft seating as well as convivial tables and chairs. The newly created ambience is friendly and relaxed, a place for a quiet pint and conversation, without the distractions of piped music, machines and screens. A menu of traditional bar snacks and sandwiches and quick meals is available too.
Outside the garden offers a pleasant place for a summer’s drink; the smokers’ area is separate, and is said to be the best in town with comfort, heating, lighting and shelter!
The vast swathes of the Ashdown Forest (Winnie the Pooh country!) make for excellent walking, and there are plenty of interesting places to visit including the famous Bluebell Railway, and the National Trust's flagship Arts and Crafts house and gardens at Standen to mention just a couple.
