The Saracens Head is a friendly community spirited pub set in an historic town. Deal has ancient roots, now with a distinctly Georgian feel, wonderful architecture, a blustery promenade and nostalgic pier, two castles, museums and many independent shops. This town centre pub is only 150 yards from the seafront.

The early 19th century building has had a thorough refurbishment in recent times. There is always something to entertain, with pool and darts being popular pastimes, a fortnightly quiz, and occasional live music - usually mellow rock or country. There is a courtyard area with canopied patio, and warming open fire in winter too.

A bit of history
The pub's name is one of the oldest around, originating from the late 12th century as veterans returned from the crusades. Early signs showed a crusader knight holding the head of an 'infidel' Turk but a more noble portrait was adopted later in recognition of their fighting bravery.
