  • Welcome to the Saracens Head

We look forward to seeing you soon!

New licensees, Opal and Richard, look forward to welcoming you to their friendly community local, The Saracens Head, in the historic town of Deal. Only 150 yards from the sea, the pub offers a varied hot and cold menu, Tea, Coffee, Drinking Chocolate and an all-day cheese board, fantastic wine list, Kentish ales and lagers, a warming log fire and a covered courtyard garden. Look out for darts on Mondays and occasional live music, quizzes, Festival of The Sea Shanties, Motown and Ska nights, Rock and Roll and many more advertised on our Facebook page

The historic town of Deal has ancient roots but a distinctly Georgian feel with wonderful architecture, a blustery promenade and nostalgic pier, two castles, museums and many independent shops. The pub was built in the early 19th century but the name is one of the oldest around, originating from the late 12th century as veterans returned from the crusades. Early pub signs showed a crusader knight holding the head of an ‘infidel’ Turk but these were replaced in later times with a more noble portrait of a Turk in recognition of their fighting bravery.
