SHEPHERD NEAME PUB OF THE YEAR 2011
The Woolpack is situated in the historic village of Banstead and takes its name from the flocks of sheep which traditionally grazed on the North Downs. Its current form dates from the end of the Second World War when it was rebuilt after being bombed. Then, it had been popular with Canadian troops stationed nearby. Nowadays the pub offers a large selection of ales, food and entertainment.
There is a monthly afternoon jazz club, regular charity nights and a beer festival every August bank holiday. The pub boasts a front terrace and a large garden and patio area at the rear. Its separate restaurant offers a range of dishes, from all-day breakfasts and Sunday roasts to its new bistro menu. It real ale range is selected from local breweries and a log burner helps create a cosy atmosphere.
