The Wheelwrights Arms at Matfield is a traditional Kentish weatherboard pub. Built in 1602 as a farm building, the pub is now owned by Shepherd Neame but run privately by Rob & Gem Marshall.
Visitors will find a traditional pub with a warm atmosphere, well kept ales, good wine and fine food.
No less than 3 Shepherd Neame ales are available, as well as a selection of good wines - most for under £20 a bottle.
There are lunch and evening menus, with Steak Night on Wednesday evenings, and roasts on Sunday.
The food is lovingly prepared to order from fresh ingredients. It is normally a good idea to reserve a table, as passers by have occasionally been disapointed when the pub is at capacity.
The pub is run by a small team who care very much about what they do, but ask for understanding in busy periods.
