George & Dragon

SHEPHERD NEAME WINE PUB OF THE YEAR 2011

Located in the picturesque village of Ightham, with a striking black and white Tudor facade, the George and Dragon oozes with history. Legend has it that this is where Guy Fawkes hatched his infamous Gunpowder Plot and was captured after fleeing London when it failed. Queen Elizabeth I is also rumoured to have stayed here.

Named as Shepherd Neame's wine pub of the year in 2011 for its extensive wine list, the pub restaurant is also award winning for its tasty food.  The menu is interesting and varied, using as much local produce as possible.

Originally a manor house, then a coaching inn, exposed beams and two real fires help the pub retain its historic feel.

Jazz and blues bands play monthly and special occasions can be celebrated in the separate function room.  Conference facilities are available for meetings.
