At face value, Patrick Casey's Ale House is a historic, lively and popular city centre bar with plenty of live music and good food, conveniently situated opposite the Roman Museum and close to Canterbury Cathedral.
The building originates back to 1504 and is the last surviving Tudor Theatre with a labyrinth of monks’ tunnels below.
In contrast, back in the bar, all is alive and kicking. There is all kinds of live music, mainly local bands with quiz nights, cards and board games as other forms of entertainment.
The pub is cosy and homely and a hubbub of activity from midday to midnight.
Served alongside the good, traditional pub food, are three cask ales and an excellent selection of wines.
The inn can serve up to 35 covers and is a popular hangout for students, tourists and locals alike, not least those with a spot of Irish blood.
