Dover Castle

Dover Castle

The Dover Castle may have been renovated to give a modern, contemporary feel but this pub, located in a 19th century terrace, is proud of its working class roots and its place at the centre of a vibrant community.

Providing good pub food is a priority for licensee Simon who has developed a mostly organic kitchen, only using produce from the market on his doorstep, local farms and independent suppliers - the pub is famed for its organic Sunday roasts.

The covered beer garden has heating for colder weather and, for those less hardy, there is an open fire inside. The Dover Castle prides itself on its friendly atmosphere and welcomes all - families, children, students and dogs on a lead and is used by a diverse range of community groups including an enthusiastic knitting circle. Events include occasional acoustic nights and movies and the annual street party in September.
