Located close to the River Thames, The George and Dragon has all the characteristics of a traditional village pub and in 2009 it was named Shepherd Neame’s Community Pub of the Year.
A former coaching inn, The George, as it was originally called, acts as a hub for the surrounding community with many clubs and societies holding their meetings here. Villagers also sought refuge here, making the most of the friendly, warm atmosphere, when a burst water main caused extensive flooding in December 2006.
The pub serves good, hearty pub food, both at lunchtime and in the evenings, and has two heated outdoor areas, one with a big screen. Both Sky Sports and ESPN are shown and there is live jazz every Tuesday night. Two car parks provide plenty of parking for customers and although there is no separate function room, part of the bar can be sectioned off for special occasions.
